FINOVI (Innovation in Infectiology) Foundation

Established in 2014 under the aegis of the Foundation for the Université de Lyon now called the Innovation and Transitions Foundation, the FINOVI Foundation’s mission is to support fundamental and translational research in the field of infectious diseases. It is a structuring tool that favors the pioneering, innovative and collaborative nature of infectious disease research in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

A leading player in the field of infectious disease, FINOVI has 260 networked teams, has funded over 100 collaborative projects since its beginning, for a total of more than €8,000,000, seven young teams implemented, and a recognized integration into the infectious disease ecosystem, through its successful links with the academic sector, the new PIA structures and the private sector.

In the context of the fight against infectious and nosocomial diseases, FINOVI develops a research strategy around:
  • Antibiotic resistance;
  • Microbiota;
  • Emerging pathogens;
  • Vaccines.
FINOVI primarily operates based on calls for tenders focused on open-ended topics, dedicated to supporting new collaborations or innovative projects and to supporting the establishment of researchers recently recruited by public bodies.

FINOVI regularly organizes meetings with academic and private partners, finances and organizes symposia and seminars and supports the establishment of research teams (association with national ATIP-Avenir programs or national agencies).
